Housing Program

Promise International provides a desperately needed safe haven for children with no family to care for them through our Ugandan orphanages and the private home we support. Clearly, offering and maintaining decent housing in a safe, secure environment for the 500 children we currently serve is a tall task - and there are many more children who need a better place to live. Our Physical Plant Specialist is the expert responsible for managing the construction, expansion and maintenance of the homes and dormitories within our housing program.

The primary Housing Program goals include:

  • Evaluation and maintenance of current homes
  • New site development
  • Construction project management
  • Coordination of maintenance and expansion plans at the existing homes

These are just some of the building projects in progress or on tap within our housing program:

  • At Gateway Mercy Ministries, we have secured land to build a village of five homes that would each accommodate 10 children each and be overseen by a house matron. These homes would encircle a central school and community facility with classrooms. This new village will enable our Gateway Mercy children to move from the swamp area where they currently reside.
  • Throughout Uganda, we hope to replicate the model of our Nabagesera Home, through which Promise International provides suitable surrogate parents with a self-sustaining brick home where they can raise orphaned children alongside their own.

In addition to these efforts, financial support is needed to pay for the following housing program needs:
